What Do They Think About Us?
Every day my pastor Austin Gardner writes a devotion on his blog. I hope that you will check out Vision News often. Belows is an article Pastor Gardner wrote today that I thought was very good. You can read it below:
What are they saying about us?
Acts 24:5 For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes:
The religious leaders of Paul’s day hated him. This is the accusation that they give about him.
He is a pestilent fellow: he is being caused a disease but not just a regular disease but a plague. He is also causing this sickness.
He is a mover of sedition: he is a mover and a shaker. He is stirring up trouble. He is causing people to rethink what they believe and they are not satisfied with what they had in their religion.
He is a ringleader:he is a captain in this sect or little group of Nazarenes. He is the one leading, causing the excitement and getting people involved.
Well these are the charges against Paul. Now comes the time to evaluate what they might be saying about us! Would they say things like this above or would they say things like:
Not really a bad fellow! Has some religious beliefs but quiet about them. He goes off and on and does his worship thing but he doesn’t get carried away with it. He has his faith but he doesn’t bother the rest of us! I am not really sure just how involved he is in his church. He doesn’t talk about it that much.
What would they say? They didn’t like Paul. They felt like he took his religion too far. He was a fanatic. He was too pushy. He got others to believe. He had to be shut up.
Do they, even the devil, even worry about us?
What does God did to do in our lives to change this? What do we need to do? Do we care? Are we looking for a church and relationship with God that can be kind of hands off, laid back, and don’t care attitude?
Well you think about it today! What are they saying about us?
