Supposing We are Ready to Lead
Acts 7:25 “For he supposed his brethren would have understood how that God by his hand would deliver them: but they understood not.”
Moses had the calling, the strength, human wisdom, training, and confidence that he thought necessary to lead, but he was not ready. He supposed that his brothers would understand that He was to lead them, but they did not.
Moses still lack brokenness, humility, reliance on God, and the wisdom necessary to lead. It would take 40 years in the wilderness tending sheep before he would be ready. When he then returned to lead it would not be as a self-made man but as God-made man.
Often, we suppose that people should follow us and that they should know we are God’s men, but we must often be broken, humbled, and taught to trust God in the trials of life before we are ready to lead.
