Wasted Potential (Deuteronomy 2)
Deuteronomy 2:14 And the space in which we came from Kadesh-barnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, was thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the Lord sware unto them.
Israel’s rebellion against God led to their men of war being “wasted.” These men who were able to fight and gifted to go to war allowed fear, unbelief, and disobedience to sideline them from the war. They proceeded to wander around simply living life, waiting to die. Their life, their potential, and their skills were completely wasted.
How sad that so many “men of war’ today are wasting their lives, focused on simply living and surviving, not engaged in the war, not using their weapons, not going forward for God. Just walking around, living their lives, and waiting to die.
God has a mission for us. We are created to be involved in that mission. Don’t waste away; get involved. Use your gifts. Use your weapons. Get involved in carrying the gospel to the nations through your local church.
