A Fountain Opened – Zech 13
“In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness.” — Zechariah 13:1
Another aspect of “that day” (a phrase mentioned numerous times in Zech 12-14 talking about future events) is that God will cleanse the people of Israel. We read about a fountain opened to them for sin and for uncleanness.
This of course is talking about the cleansing that is found in Christ through His cross, and it is the basis for the song “There is a Fountain filled with Blood.”
Sadly, most of Israel rejected Christ and were not cleansed. And even in the future, only one-third of the people will call on the Lord’s name. But the good news is that some have believed and more will believe in the future and be saved.
The question for us to consider is have we be cleansed in the fountain that has been opened through Christ’s death on the cross? His blood has been shed and His grace is sufficient for all who come. All your sin can be washed away.
Also, we need to let others know that a fountain has been opened for sin. There is cleansing and forgiveness for all who come to Christ.
