A Place for God to Fellowship with Man (Exodus 26)
Exodus 26:1 1 Moreover thou shalt make the tabernacle with ten curtains of fine twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet: with cherubims of cunning work shalt thou make them.
Though a bit hard to follow at times, when looked at in detail, the tabernacle God had Israel make was an amazing piece of construction. Not only was it carefully planned and thought out, it was a beautiful symbol of God showing sinful men how they could have a relationship with Him, a holy God.
The sacrifices – the priests – the holy place filled with light, incense, and food – the holy of holies where God dwelt – all of it pointed to God’s desire to not only to provide an atonement for man but to fellowship with man and to give him light and direction.
Think of how awesome it is that God would want to know us, that God would care about us and think about us! What a privilege to be able to come into God’s presence now through Christ and to enjoy sweet communion with the wonderful God of heaven!
