Be Ye Also Ready – Matt 24
“Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.” — Matthew 24:44
Israel rejected their Messiah. Though He wanted to save them, they would not humble themselves to receive Him, so now they would face a time of judgment before He would return again (Matt 23:37-39). Matthew 24 is Jesus answering the disciples’ questions about when judgment would come on Jerusalem and what the signs of His return and the end of the age would be.
After giving many signs for Israel regarding Christ’s second coming (24:4-31), Jesus goes on to apply his teaching (“Now learn a parable…v.32) (24:32-51). One big lesson Israelites in the future and all of us today need to learn is the importance of watching and being aware of what is going on.
The people during the days of Noah were caught up in eating, drinking, marrying, giving in marriage and unaware that judgment was coming. They should have watching. Because they ignored the signs, they were not ready.
Jesus says to all of us, “Be ye also ready..” (v.44). How ready are we? Are we making sure we are saved? Are we making sure our loved ones, neighbours, and others are saved? Are we do all we can to warn the whole world of His coming? Once He comes, it will be too late. Those who are ready will be saved. Those who are not will perish.
