Building Men on the Backside of the Desert (Exodus 3)
Exodus 3:1 1 Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.
The Moses of the Egyptian court contrasts greatly with the Moses on the backside of the desert. Before, Moses was confident and assertive. Now, he is timid and humble. He no longer believes he is the man to deliver Israel.
Forty years of wandering after sheep have ground away his self-confidence. It would now seem to most onlookers that he is unqualified to lead. But to God, he is now ready.
It is always amazing to me how God works. How He takes the proud and makes them humble. How He takes the confident and makes them dependent. God created man to bring Him glory. Sin causes
God created man to bring Him glory. Sin causes man to want to bring Himself glory. But God through the grace of His adversity can break our pride and bring forth in us a vessel for His glory.
The backside of the desert is a lonely place to be, but never underestimate what God is building there.
