Dwelling Among Us (Exodus 29)
Exodus 29:46 46 And they shall know that I am the Lord their God, that brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, that I may dwell among them: I am the Lord their God.
When describing the tabernacle and the priestly office, God says several times that it is the place where He will meet with the children of Israel.
- The place where God will speak to them (v.42)
- The place which will be sanctified by God’s glory (v.43)
- The place where Aaron and his sons will be set apart to minister to the Lord (v.44)
- The place where God will meet with them and be their God (v.45)
Exodus 29:46 sums up God’s desire in all of this, “And they shall know that I am the Lord their God, that brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, that I may dwell among them: I am the Lord their God.”
It is amazing to think that God wants us to know Him. He wants to meet with us. He wants to dwell among us. And He wants to be our God. And the place where that all is made possible is in Christ. His dwelling in a tabernacle of flesh (pictured by the tabernacle of the congregation) makes it possible for God to meet with us and well among us.
