Emptying the Earth – Isa 24
“Behold, the Lord maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, And turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.” – Isaiah 24:1
This is truly a terrifying chapter with many similarities to the book of Revelation. It describes a time when…
- the earth will be empty and waste
- the inhabitants of the earth from all walks of life will be scattered
- the proud people of the earth will languish
- all joy will be gone and only confusion and crying and destruction
The reason is that the Lord will judge the earth and the people of the earth for their sin and pride against Him (v.4-5). He will bring the people of the earth to a point where they will cry out to Him and give Him great glory that He deserves (v.14-15).
This vision should motivate us to tell people about the coming judgment, to warn them to flee from God’s wrath, to trust in God’s mercy and salvation, to humble themselves before God the King before it is too late.
One day, Christ will rule and reign from Jerusalem. He will be glorified and exalted. And all will give Him the honour He deserves. May we praise Him today, and may we challenge others to do the same.
