Fear Only God – Dan 6
Daniel in the lion’s den is a great story. But it is more than just a story; it’s the historical account of one man’s fear of God and how God showed His power to an entire kingdom.
Jealously motivated all of Daniel’s peers to set a trap for him. The only place they could find fault with him was his love for and obedience to God. So they got the king to pass a law that no was allowed to pray to anyone but Darius.
Daniel, of course, feared God more than any king. So Daniel continued on as before, without hiding or running. He boldly prayed to God three times a day as before. So he was thrown into the lion’s den, where God protected him. This showed to the king and the whole kingdom that Daniel’s God was the true and living God.
The lesson I take away from this story is that there is only one King who should be feared – King Jesus. He should be served with great loyalty and boldness despite opposition. He can be trusted to deliver and to save. He will honour those who stand for Him.
