God Wants Everyone To Be Saved – Romans 10
‘But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.’ — Romans 10:21
After establishing God’s sovereign choice to save all who come to Him by faith in Jesus in Romans 9, we read of God’s open invitation to the nation of Israel to call upon the name of the Lord and be saved in Romans 10.
Just as it was Paul’s heart’s desire and prayer for Israel to be saved (v.1), so it is God’s desire and prayer for Israel (v.21) and for whosoever shall call upon His name (v.13) to be saved.
We read that God continues to stretch forth His hands to them, though they are a disobedient and gainsaying people (v.21). And God continues to stretch forth His hands to all people, even those who have rejected Him before, inviting them to believe on Him and be saved.
God is not willing that any should perish. God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked. God wants you to be saved. And God wants the world to be saved. So let us go and proclaim the gospel of peace. Let us bring glad tidings of good things to the world (v.15)!
