Keep Silent Before the Lord – Zech 2
“Be silent, O all flesh, before the Lord: For he is raised up out of his holy habitation.” – Zech 2:13
Zechariah has another vision of a man with a measuring line in his hand. He measures Jerusalem, but there are so many people living there that no walls could contain them all (v.1-4). The reason for Jerusalem’s growth and prosperity is all down to the Lord. He will be a wall of fire protecting the city and the glory within the city (v.5).
As a result, Jewish people are invited to leave the places where they are scattered and return back to Jersualem. God says that He will deal with their enemies. Those who touch Israel are touching “the apple of His eye” (v.6-9).
Not only will they to return, but they are to sing and rejoice in God’s dwelling among them in the future. Many other nations will join the Lord and His people in Jerusalem. And all flesh are to be silent before the Lord (v.10-13).
What a powerful description of God’s plan for the future. When Christ returns and sets up His kingdom on earth, it will be one of safety, of glory, of blessing for all. As a result of who God is and what God has done and will do, we should keep silent before Him. We should stop and just praise Him. We should tell everyone who Christ is so they can come and worship Him as well!
