Living Water – Eze 47
Water is crucial for life. Just the thought of not having water makes me desperate for a drink. In Ezekiel 47, we read of a great river that will flow from under the temple in Jerusalem. This river will give life to the whole land of Israel.
Like the river of life talked about in Revelation, there will be fruit trees along it, leaves that will give healing to the nations, and the once dry and dead land will abound with life.
God is the source and giver of life. He must be the well from which we draw and receive strength. Just as He offered living water to the woman at the well, we all need to stop drawing from the physical wells of this life and look to Christ. The wells of this world never satisfy. Jesus truly satisfies.
Those who are saved have the Holy Spirit and He is a well in us that springs up to everlasting life.
“In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)”
John 7:37-39
As we think of these truths, let us ask ourselves:
- Where are we looking for satisfaction? The wells of this world or Jesus Christ.
- Do we allow Christ to heal all in us that is broken and damaged? His grace is sufficient.
- Do we get so plugged into Christ and so filled with His Spirit that His grace and love can flow through us to others? We are meant to be a source of Christ’s living water to others.
