Only One True King – Eze 17
There are many great and mighty kings and rulers throughout the world and throughout history, but there is only one King of kings and Lord of lords. In Ezekiel 17, we read a riddle/parable about two kings described as eagles. Both kings (of Babylon and Egypt) tried to exercise dominance over Jerusalem. But the reality is that the Lord was behind them all.
Ezekiel 17:24 expresses who is really in charge…“And all the trees of the field shall know that I the Lord have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the Lord have spoken and have done it.”
What God was doing with Israel, Babylon, and Egypt was showing them all that He is the great King. And one day, as promised in Eze 17:22-23, God will establish His righteous King, Jesus Christ, on the throne of David and will rule the earth in righteousness and peace.
What king are you serving? Who is in charge of you? Who do you submit to and whose orders do you follow?
Do you try to rule your own life and run your own affairs? Do you allow others to control you? Or do you submit to the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ? He is the true King over all!
