The Rejected One Is Our Redeemer
Genesis 43:33 “And they sat before him, the firstborn according to his birthright, and the youngest according to his youth: and the men marvelled one at another.”
The possibility that Joseph is a type of Christ is almost too obvious to miss in this account of Joseph and his brothers. With that in mind, consider how like us the brothers are.
In all their dealings with Joseph, they are afraid and distressed. Their fear is primarily due to their hidden sin. They think that Joseph means them harm, but in reality, he loves them dearly and can hardly refrain from crying when in their presence.
The one they think is a total stranger is actually one who knows them intimately, as evidenced by his seating them in order, eldest to youngest.
In a similar fashion, those who do not know the Lord Jesus at times may also have a sense of uneasiness that He knows them well and means them harm. But there is no need to be afraid, Jesus did not come to condemn the world but to save the world (John 3:17).
He is not pursuing to harm but to deliver. He is not dealing with men and women to hurt them but simply to humble them and to bring them to Himself.
The One you think you do not know is the very One who knows everything about you and was chosen by God to deliver you. See John 1:10, “He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.”
May God open eyes to see that the rejected One is actual the compassion, redeeming Saviour of the world – Jesus.
