The World Is Watching – Jer 40
The things that were happening in Israel were being watched by the world. When Jeremiah was taken by the Babylonians, the captain set him free, stating that everything that happened to Jeremiah and his people was because of their sin against the Lord (v.2-3). He gave Jeremiah the freedom to go with the captives or stay in the land (v.4).
It’s fascinating to realise that even an unbelieving general was able to state why Judah fell. God’s Word through Jeremiah and his other prophets was getting out. God was using everything with Israel to be a witness and testimony to the world.
We need to understand that the world continues to watch God’s people. Those of us who are saved need to live Godly lives and be bold so the world will know more about our God and want to believe on Him.
Titus 2:11-12 “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;”
Does the world know you are a Christian? What will they learn about God from watching your life? Can they see Jesus in you? Wouldn’t it be great if we were so bold and Christ-like that even unbelievers could clearly state the gospel as a result of our testimony?
