They Will Know My Name – Jer 16
“Therefore, behold, I will this once cause them to know, I will cause them to know mine hand and my might
Jeremiah 16:21; and they shall know that my name is The Lord.”
God’s told Jeremiah that His judgment on Israel was going to be so severe that families would be broken up, the dead would not be buried, and there would be no joy or mourning in the city (v.1-9).
Sadly, the people didn’t even realise how much they had sinned against God and broken His laws (v.10-13). They had made disobedience such a habit that it seems normal to them.
But, God’s judgment would not be forever. A new ‘exodus’ would take place as the people would be delivered out of the heathen nations and brought back into their land. (v.14-18).
Not only will God do a work to deliver Israel, but He is also going to do
This is the end that God is wanting to bring about – a world where there is universal acknowledgement by all people that the Lord is God!
This is the end that we are privileged to have a part in through missions, evangelism, and discipleship.
