What Pleases the Lord? – Ps 147

Psalm 147 tells us that the thing that pleases the Lord is those who fear Him and those who hope in His mercy (v.10-11). God’s greatness and grace (v.1-3); His infinite wisdom and understanding (v.4-5); His great power and wonderful provision for the whole earth (v.5-9) – all are worthy of praise and respect from mankind.

So God is not impressed with our strength or our abilities; He wants us to be impressed with His strength and ability (v.19-11). Any ability we have is given to us by God, and any good we can do is a small reflection of His goodness. So, let us give God pleasure today. Let us please Him by loving Him, serving Him, fearing Him, and hoping in His mercy.
