Ministry Update – Summer News & Preparing for Constitution Services
On 23rd July, we said goodbye to Hannah Neilly, who interned with us this past year. Hannah is a missionary in training, preparing to assist church-planting missionaries overseas. She is completing a course with the Our Generation Training Center in Alpharetta, GA. Please continue to pray for her as she plans to head there at the end of this month and then on to Africa for her final internship in 2018. Also, I would highly recommend her for missionary support to any church looking for a good missionary.
We had a great finish to our youth club for the summer with a BBQ (Cookout) at the Waye's house. It has been great to work together with Chris and Sherry Waye. They are wonderful servants. We are very excited that they are here, and we are grateful for how God is using them in the ministry.
Some of the men in the church organise a "life skills" event every couple months to teach young men various skills they might need in life. The photo above shows them doing the latest event on wood working. I am grateful for the wonderful group of people at Downham Baptist, who serve in so many ways.
Please keep us in prayer in particular as we prepare to organise and constitute the church on the weekend of 16-17 September. We are finalising the church governing documents and working on getting with everyone who is planning to join. Our pastor and his wife, Austin and Betty Gardner, will be with us for this special event as well as a number of other friends from across the country.
Last week, we returned from a great family holiday. We took the ferry over to France and did some camping (some might call it "clamping"). It was a very nice time of adventure and refreshment. I am so thankful for my wonderful family and how we are privileged to serve God together!
Please pray for the following:
- New volunteers/workers who are stepping up to do various ministries in the church
- Youth camp taking place next week (21-25 August) in Wales in partnership with Saron Chapel Baptist Church and Brimpton Baptist Church. (We have some young people who could use financial assistance with going to camp to the tune of about £500/$650 total. Let me know if you would like to help with this.)
- Preparations for our celebration and constitution services on 16-17 September.
- Provision for the building fund for Northwest Baptist Church.
Thanks for the update Travis. It looks like you all have some great outreach and discipleship programs going on. I am especially impressed with the life skills day. What a great way to get the older and younger generations interacting and coming closer together as a church body. We look forward to having Hannah with us at the training center.
Glad that Hannah and be there and get further training. I am grateful for all the folks in our church who make these things possible.
