September 2017 Prayer Letter
Dear Pastors & Praying Friends,
We began the month of August with a week of camping in France. It was a good experience to take the ferry from England to France and spend a week of holiday (vacation) seeing parts of France. Europe is certainly in a very critical state as the emptiness of humanism and secularism is more and more apparent. Please pray for God to continue to soften hearts and show people that their only hope is Jesus.
Preparations are in full swing for the constitution of Downham Baptist Church on Sunday, 17th September. A number of the folks who attend the church are planning to become charter members, which is exciting. Some are planning to follow the Lord in believer’s baptism, and others are considering joining at a later date. Please pray for God’s blessing on the constitution service and the celebration service that will take place on the Saturday before, to which we will invite various friends and pastors from other churches to celebrate with us.
Our summer youth camp went very well. We partnered with Saron Chapel Baptist in Aberaman, Wales and Brimpton Baptist in Brimpton, England to put on the camp. There were 56 of us total between the three churches. The theme was “Marvellous Grace” and we had a great time learning about God’s unmerited favour.
We continue to work diligently on the building project for Northwest Baptist Church. Just about every week, Pastor James is doing a viewing of a property or we are in negotiations with various real estate agents. We believe that God is helping us to get close to finding the right building, so please keep the building search and the fund raising in your prayers. This month, we had an additional $600 donated, putting the total donated at $58,848!
More and more people in our church are taking on responsibility, and we are grateful to now have a song leader, a financial secretary, some trustees, and others who are initiating outreach and ministry in the church.
Thank you so much for your faithful prayers and support. We are so grateful for each one of you, and we praise God for the opportunity to represent you here in the United Kingdom.
